The new support desk, which is situated in Belfast, is in addition to the support desks that Mycompanyfleet already operates for national and international fleet customers from various locations in the UK and around the world.

Mycompanyfleet business manager, Andrew Leech, said that the concept of a support desk was important to provide around the clock, 24/7 support and network coverage for fleet customers both in the UK and throughout Europe.

It was also a key part of the concept of software-as-a- service which was revolutionising the way companies used software services.

The provision of software-as-a-service provides the benefits of low-cost automated fleet management, but without the initial up-front investment, inhouse technical support or even the installation of in-office software programs characteristic of conventional fleet management systems, said Leech.

“Software-as-a-service is a concept that is very common in the HR industry but less so within fleet. But the principles are exactly the same and can provide fleet operators of all sizes with a low-cost, low-hassle way of running fleet vehicles very cost effectively.

“Round-the-clock- support through a support desk is an integral part of that as the inhouse support function is moved to an external function and is a part of streamlining costs.

“There are significant savings to be made in running a fleet in this way. For just £1 per month, it is possible to generate savings of £25,000 per annum on a fleet of 25 vehicles, which typically costs around £500,000 a year to run.

“In these economically uncertain times with talks of budget cutbacks, what company is going to say ‘no’ to savings of £25,000 a year on just 25 vehicles?’ he said.

“And in terms of payment, this can be a pay-on-use service, so that you are only billed for what you use. There is no negative impact on cash flow, and there is total transparency. It’s the ideal low-cost solution for fleet operators,” he added.
